    Is there really any difference between the upper and lower rails and bearing blocks?

    • @Idealwoodworks
      @Idealwoodworks 16 годин тому

      The upper rails I used are thicker/heavier than the lower rails. Less likely to deflect. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video. What sheen did you use (semi-gloss, satin, flat?). Thanks!

      That finish was flat. Thanks for watching!

    How did you layout/transfer the hole placement from the bearing onto the aluminum angle? That’s my last key thing. Did you just have to measure and then transfer?!

    • @Idealwoodworks
      @Idealwoodworks 5 днів тому

      Yes, I just measured and marked using a caliper and a square. It seems like the holes in the bearings aren’t perfectly square so be sure to oversized the holes. Thanks for watching!

    I am using a DeWalt router and plunge base, but it will not plunge below the 3/4” plywood in order to cut anything. Any suggestions?

      @Idealwoodworks 7 днів тому

      Hello, thanks for watching. You may need a longer bit or possibly a collet extension. I recently switched to a Triton router which plunges very deep. Check out this video to see the upgrades I made to the sled and router. ua-cam.com/video/pYstDfpUUZE/v-deo.htmlsi=80gHmlmo2hxK0eIt

    can this be used for a professional bar top and if so what is a cure time? thanks great video.

    • @Idealwoodworks
      @Idealwoodworks 12 днів тому

      Hello, thanks for watching! I use it on table tops and it’s a very durable finish. It cures very fast. I’m typically able to sand and recoat in 30 minutes . I’ve never used it for a commercial bar top. I might suggest using table top epoxy for that. Comparing their scratch resistance might make for an interesting experiment though. I’ll give that some thought.

      Thanks for the reply, customer doesn’t want epoxy so am leaning toward conversion varnish. Looked at Krystal SL but 1 month sit before use( not happening) so looking for quicker cure/use time.

    What nobody making or selling router sleds tell. "With such an excessive amount of dust it was actually getting in the bearings and making the sled really hard to use."

      @Idealwoodworks 13 днів тому

      Hello, thanks for watching! If you are considering building a router sled you should check out the upgrades I made to the dust collection. It’s still not perfect but significantly improved. At least now I can get through an entire table before having to clean the bearings. Here’s a link to that video. Making The Better Router Sled/Flattening Jig Even Better!
